Texas Star Heritage Award™

 
Purpose:
The Texas Star Heritage Award™ will recognize distinguished leadership who has contributed to the advancing the mission of the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures and/or promoted the diverse cultures of Texas. The Texas Star recipient embodies the mission of the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures.


MISSION: We give voice to the experiences of people from across the globe who call Texas home, providing insight into our past, present and future.

 

Nominations: Nominations may be made by any ITC Advisory Board Member, ITC museum member, UTSA administrator, faculty, staff, as well as community/civic leader. The deadline for nominations is April 3, 2017.


Criteria:

  • • Active civic, business or community leader who contributes to the advancement of cultural diversity throughout the state of Texas or within his/her regional area in the state of Texas.
  • • Demonstrated depth and breadth of outstanding service to Texan cultures.
  • • Promotes and contributes to the advancement of the mission of the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures.
  • • Serves the State of Texas and beyond.


Award: The museum will award a local nominee, a regional nominee, and a business or organization that has advanced the mission of the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures and/or promoted the cultures of Texas. The recipient of the Texas Star Heritage Award™ will be recognized at the annual ITC Texas Star Heritage Award Gala, January 20, 2018 at the museum. Recipients should be able to be present at the award ceremony and should be available for active participation in the fundraising effort.

 

The funds raised will support the Texan Fund of the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures. The Texan Fund allows the museum to further its mission through quality programs and exhibits.
