Launch UTSA is a crowdfunding site for faculty, staff, and student projects at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Similar to other crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter or GeekFunder, Launch UTSA is the official crowdfunding platform of the university and will raise money for research, philanthropic needs, study abroad, scholarships and other exceptional opportunities at UTSA, in support of university priorities.
In order for your project to be successful you will need to be able to clearly articulate the need for funding, build a team of 10 or more people who will be champions for the project and share your page, and identify a “crowd” of people in the community to share it with. Preliminary data suggests that the project can raise $150 to $250 per team member if your team is active and engaged in promoting the project throughout the crowdfunding public phase (usually 30 days).
