It's not too late: Some helpful tips for year-end UTSA gift planning

For many UTSA faculty, staff, alumni and friends, the holidays are a time for giving.

As you consider your charitable giving between now and the end of the year, remember that gifts must be made before the end of the day on December 31 to qualify for a 2017 tax deduction. Here are some tips:

Credit Card: Giving by credit card is the simplest way to make a gift. To ensure you gift is counted for 2017, all online donations made on the UTSA Giving website must be completed by 10 p.m. on Dec. 31.

Checks: Gifts by check must be postmarked by Dec. 31, 2017, and mailed to: The University of Texas at San Antonio Gift Services, One UTSA Circle, San Antonio, Texas 78249.

Stock or Securities: Transfers of stock and securities take longer than traditional gifts and must be processed by Dec. 31, 2017. For more information about making a gift of stock or securities, call Gift Services at 210-458-6818.

Planned Giving: Planned gifts, including bequests and life income gifts, are designed to help you meet your financial charitable goals while supporting UTSA in the long term. To learn more about planned giving opportunities contact Kimberly West at 210-458-7307, or via email at kimberly.west@utsa.edu.

Hours and questions: While the Office of External Relations will be closed during the winter break, Dec. 25- 29, Gift Services will remain open 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., on Dec. 27 - 29. Normal business hours will resume Tue, Jan. 2.
