Top Scholar, among the brightest at UTSA
Amanda Griffee is one of five pioneering students selected for the inaugural group of the UTSA Top Scholar program. The program awards comprehensive, merit-based scholarships and provides enrichment programming to some of the best students in Texas. “Since it’s the first year for the program, we get to help shape the program,” she shares. Like Amanda, students most competitive for the program have a two-part SAT score of 1400 or higher and graduate in the top five percent of their high school class.
When Amanda first visited the campus in 2012, it was her connection with faculty and staff that sparked her interest in UTSA. Being selected as a UTSA Top Scholar made her certain that studying here was the right choice. “I feel the faculty and staff truly care about us, and they will provide the support needed for us to succeed,” says the freshman from Cibolo, Texas.
A biology major with the goal of becoming a pediatrician, Amanda is looking forward to spending the next few years at UTSA and excelling. Donor support for scholarships will ensure that more Top Scholars can attend UTSA. “There are just so many opportunities here for students, especially UTSA Top Scholar students, to learn and grow,” says Amanda.
