Creating New Knowledge
Dedicated to quality education and student success
When Ruyan Guo came to UTSA in 2007, she brought her dedication to quality education and a philosophy centered on student success. Awarded the Robert E. Clarke Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering endowed position, Dr. Guo uses the endowment funding to support students and research projects, and she collaborates with other faculty members to develop programs that create more opportunities for student success.
“Knowledge is not standing still, and that’s why we are creating new programs—to continue to help our students grow in knowledge,”
- Ruyan Guo
Dr. Guo credits the generous gift of Jeff and Loretta Clarke for opening new doors for students and faculty in her department, and providing her with the freedom to explore new research. “I feel privileged to work here and continue to add to student potential, and I am grateful to have the trust and dedication of the Clarkes.”
In addition to providing financial assistance to engineering students, Dr. Guo and her colleagues have developed the new Integrated Bachelor of Science/Master of Science Program, to improve the retention and graduation rates of undergraduate students and increase the enrollment of graduate students. Guo hopes that this new program will attract more top students to the program, a key component of UTSA’s Tier One campaign. “When our students are successful, the program becomes more attractive to other quality students who want to study and research at UTSA.”
Give now to support faculty like Guo who are changing what’s possible.
