Alan Aguilar
Embracing a world of possibilities

Alan Aguilar has always loved the idea of creating tangible objects and being part of something on a larger scale. As a top student in the College of Architecture, Construction and Planning, and a recipient of the Joeris General Contractors Endowed Honors Scholarship in Construction Science and Management, he is fulfilling his love of creation.

“I remember how incredibly difficult it was to keep up during my first year. Like most students, I worked long hours to help pay for my education,” he shares. “The past couple of years, I’ve been fortunate to receive scholarships and internship opportunities, which have made a huge difference for me and my family.”

Recently interning with Joeris General Contractors, Alan gained hands-on experience in construction planning and management, as he helped oversee day-to-day responsibilities during the building of UTSA’s  North Paseo Building. Working alongside construction managers, he was fortunate to gain additional perspective on the large and even smaller details that make a difference for successful architecture.

Alan continues to grow as a student of architecture through work and education. He is thrilled to be part of the student body at UTSA, where he admits the possibilities are endless.

“When individuals give, they’re giving us a chance to embrace a world of possibilities,” he explains. “I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I am doing with the support of UTSA professors and donors.”
